For host families

Hosting, without the paperwork chasing you.

You apply once and sign once. After that, everything the school needs from you arrives as a link in your email. The placement request, the check-in, the pay statement. Nothing to install, no password to remember, and it works on the phone in your kitchen.

What the school will send you, and when.

  1. 1ApplicationYour household, your home, your references. Police vetting is arranged by the school, with your consent, and recorded here.
  2. 2Home visit and agreementThe homestay manager visits, then you sign the host agreement online. The signed copy is yours to keep.
  3. 3Placement requestA student profile with what matters: diet, allergies, languages, interests. You accept or decline, and can ask a question first.
  4. 4Check-insA few questions by link, on a schedule the school sets. About two minutes. A concern opens a case with the school straight away.
  5. 5PayA statement each pay run, worked out night by night, before the money arrives.
Pay

You can see how every dollar was worked out.

Pay is worked out night by night from the dates the school holds. If your student is away for a weekend, or has a dietary need the school pays extra for, it is on the statement as its own line, and you see the statement before the money arrives.

If something is wrong

Any check-in lets you raise a concern. It opens a case at the school and the homestay manager is told straight away. For anything urgent, use your school's after-hours number.

Your information

Your police vetting, home visit notes and bank details are held by your school in Harbor, in a database in Australia, under the NZ Privacy Act 2020. Agents and other families never see them.

Becoming a host

Hosting is arranged by the school, not by Harbor. Ask your local school's international office. If they use Harbor, they will send you the application link.
